5.1. PREPARATION
Surfaces must be dry and free from all foreign matter such as dust, grease and dirt etc. Weak laitance and loose or flaking material must be removed by wire brushing. In severe cases, grit blasting may be required. If oil/grease contamination is present, degrease with an industrial degreaser and wash the surface to remove. Allow to dry until the moisture content is below 5% - measured with a protometer.
5.2. APPLICATION
EPOXY PRIMER
1. Stir the Epoxy Primer A Pack.
2. Stir the Epoxy Primer B Pack.
3. Empty the entire contents of Epoxy Primer B Pack into Epoxy Primer A Pack and mix with drill and paddle for 3 minutes on a slow speed.
4. Pour into a roller tray to increase pot life.
5. Roll onto substrate using a medium pile roller.
Wait until primer is tacky before applying Epoxy Quartz Mortar.
EPOXY QUARTZ MORTAR MIXING
1. Stir the Epoxy Mortar B Pack.
2. Empty the entire contents of Epoxy Mortar A Pack & Epoxy Mortar B Pack into the bucket (as supplied) and mix with drill and paddle for 3 minutes on a slow speed.
3. Slowly add Quartz while mixing continuously.
4. Stir for a further 3 minutes to obtain a smooth free flowing mix.
5. Pour immediately. Do not allow the Quartz to settle before pouring.
EPOXY QUARTZ MORTAR APPLICATION
Once mixed Antel Epozy Quartz Mortar can generate a lot of heat. Storing the material in a cool place and applying in cooler conditions will reduce the amount of heat generated.
Having allowed the previously applied Epoxy Primer to go tacky, pour the compound on to the substrate and spread out using a plasterers float
Wait 24 hours before applying Sealer coat.
SEALER COAT
1. Mix the Sealer A Pack thoroughly on a slow speed.
2. Mix the Sealer B Pack thoroughly on a slow speed.
3. Pour the contents of the Sealer B Pack into the larger Sealer A Pack.
4. Mix again thoroughly on a slow speed (ideally with a mixer paddle) for a minimum of three minutes, so that the two components are completely mixed.
5. Pour into at least one roller tray to maintain pot life.
6. Start application immediately.
7. Apply the clear coat using a foam or velour roller.
6. DRYING & CURING
At 20 °C, and with reasonable ventilation, the coating is touch dry in 8 hours and hard dry in 12 hours. Maximum cure, hardness and chemical resistance is obtained within 7 days.
We recommend waiting 1-2 days before light traffic and 4-5 days before heavy traffic. This is a guide only and will depend on temperature and application thickness of the Sealer Coat.
7. STORAGE
Store in a cool, dry and frost free area in original containers. Protect from freezing. Keep out of the reach of children. A shelf life in excess of 12 months can be expected for unopened containers kept in the above conditions.
8. CLEANING EQUIPMENT
Application equipment used should not be cleaned with water, but simply allowed to cure/harden and then disposed of.
9. HEALTH & SAFETY
Antel Epoxy Quartz Flooring System is much safer to handle than other resin systems; however, it is recommended that all skin contact is avoided and that if contact is made, are washed immediately with soap and warm water. It is advisable to use a barrier cream and gloves when applying.
