Epoxy Primer (Solvent Free)

Antel Epoxy Primer is a solvent-free, two-part epoxy resin with a low viscosity, engineered to deliver exceptional adhesion and bonding capabilities. It is especially effective when used as a primer for Antel Epoxy self-levelling floor screed and other related products.

Ideal for:

🔹 Priming surfaces: Prepare concrete floors and structures for the application of Antel Epoxy Floor Screed, self-levelling screeds, and patching mortars.

🔹 Sealing and filling: Address hairline cracks and minor imperfections in concrete surfaces.

🔹 Bonding: Effective in bonding broken concrete, as well as asbestos cement to wood or concrete surfaces.

The primer is available in 1 kg, 2.5 kg, and 5 kg tins, with a coverage rate of 5.5 m² per kilogram per coat. It has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in a sealed container and is clear in colour.

Preparation: Clean and dry the surface, removing any contaminants and loose material. Use Antel Cleaner for best results.

Mixing: Pour Pack ‘B’ into Pack ‘A’ and mix thoroughly using a slow-speed mechanical stirrer or hand mixer. Transfer to a shallow tray.

Application: Use a roller to apply the primer, working it into the surface without forming pools. For very porous surfaces, a second coat may be needed once the first is touch dry. For bonding, apply with a brush or roller and hold materials in place until cured.

Curing: Allow the primer to cure for 12-24 hours before applying subsequent layers or materials.

1. DESCRIPTION

Antel Epoxy Primer is a low viscosity, two part solvent free epoxy resin, formulated to provide a material possessing outstanding adhesive qualities.  It should be particularly used where Antel Epoxy self levelling flooring screed is being applied.

2. USES

a. Priming surfaces prior to the application of Antel Epoxy Floor Screed, Antel Epoxy self levelling floor screed and Antel Patching Mortar.

b. Sealing and filling hairline cracks in concrete floors and structures.

c. Bonding together broken concrete structures.

d. Bonding asbestos cement to itself to wood or to concrete.

7. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

7.1 Preparation:
Surfaces must be dry and free from all foreign matter such as dust, grease and dirt etc. Weak laitance and loose or flaking material must be removed by ‘grit’ blasting or at the very least wire brushing. Best results can be obtained by the use of the appropriate Antel Cleaner.

7.2 Mixing:
Empty the entire contents of Pack ‘B’ into Pack ‘A’ and mix thoroughly. Mixing should be carried out by a slow speed mechanical stirrer, or by hand using a flat bar paint mixer. Stirring should continue until a complete mix is achieved. Once mixed, transfer to a shallow tray immedietely.  This will help to dissipate heat and give a longer working time.

7.3 Application:

As a primer for Antel Epoxy Screed and Patching Mortar use as follows:-

Apply by roller immediately after mixing, working well into the surface and taking care not to form pools. Do not prime an area larger than can be dealt with in two hours. Should the primer be allowed to harden, a fresh application must be carried out before the appropriate mortar is applied. It may be necessary, when priming extremely porous surfaces, to apply a second coat after the first coat has become touch dry.

As a general adhesive use as follows:-

Apply by brush or roller immediately after mixing. Materials to be bonded should be held firmly until the adhesive has hardened - approximately between 12 - 24 hours, dependent upon the temperature.

7.4 Curing:
Pot life when mixed is 20-30 minutes depending on air temperature. Tough hard in 12 - 24 hours. Full cure is achieved in about 7 days - dependent upon the temperature.

7.5 Cleaning Tools:
Immediately after use, tools should be cleaned with Antel cleaning Solvent.
