2. USES

The scope of applications for Antel Epoxy Flake Flooring System is extensive and it can be used virtually anywhere that requires an attractive hard wearing, anti-slip floor.

3. PACKAGING

Supplied as a ‘pack’:

5-6 m2 pack

- 4 KG PVA Flake

- 1 KG of Sealer (A & B Pack)

4. COVERAGE

Depending on the substrate, coverage is approximately 5-6 square metres per pack, on a non porous, relatively smooth surface. With rougher and more porous surfaces, the coverage of the Base Epoxy Resin may be reduced.

5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

5.1. PREPARATION

THE PERFORMANCE OF THE COATING CAN BE SERIOUSLY IMPAIRED IF THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT STRICTLY ADHERED TO

Do not apply in temperatures below 10 °C/50 °F.

Although Epoxy Flake Flooring System will overcoat most other finishes and paints, the best results are achieved when surfaces are clean and free of other finishes/coatings.

If applying over an existing coating or to a non-porous surface, mechanically sand the area to create a key.

If applying to a surface that hasn’t previously been painted or is porous, one coat of Epoxy Solvent Free Primer will need to be applied before applying Epoxy Flake Flooring System.

All surfaces should be dry. Particular attention should be made to degreasing surfaces before application. All voids and surface imperfections must be carefully filled.

Epoxy Flake Flooring System can be applied to fibreglass but it's important the surface is mechanically sanded to provide a key.

Clean the surface you will be applying the Epoxy Flake Flooring System to. If there are any leaks, these should be repaired with Antel Waterstop or Antel Epoxy Putty before application.

The pot life of the Base Coat and Sealer Coat is approximately 45 mins.  This is based on a temperature of 20 °C/68 °F.  If you are applying the coating in higher temperatures, the pot life may be reduced.  The material will become unworkable once outside of this pot life.

We recommend wearing spiked shoes when applying the Flake.

If unsure, please contact us for technical advice.

5.2. APPLICATION

1. Mix the Base Epoxy Resin A Pack thoroughly on a slow speed.

2. Mix the Base Epoxy Resin B Pack thoroughly on a slow speed.

3. Pour the contents of the B Pack into the larger A Pack.

4. Mix again thoroughly on a slow speed (ideally with a mixer paddle) for a minimum of three minutes, so that the two components are completely mixed.

5. Pour into at least one roller tray to maintain pot life.

6. Apply the Base Epoxy Resin using a medium pile roller or brush.

7. While wearing spiked shoes, broadcast PVA flake as evenly as possible over the area.  A tyrolean/flicker gun will make this much easier.

8. Wait 12-24 hours.

9. Vacuum off excess flake.

10. Mix the Sealer Coat A Pack thoroughly.

11. Mix the Sealer Coat B Pack thoroughly.

12. Pour the contents of the B Pack into the larger A Pack.

13. Apply the Sealer Coat using a foam roller.

6. DRYING & CURING

At 20 °C, and with reasonable ventilation, the coating is touch dry in 8 hours and hard dry in 12 hours. Maximum cure, hardness and chemical resistance is obtained within 7 days.

We recommend waiting 1-2 days before light traffic and 4-5 days before heavy traffic.  This is a guide only and will depend on temperature and application thickness of the Sealer Coat.

7. STORAGE

Store in a cool, dry and frost free area in original containers. Protect from freezing. Keep out of the reach of children. A shelf life in excess of 12 months can be expected for unopened containers kept in the above conditions.

8. CLEANING EQUIPMENT

Application equipment used should not be cleaned with water, but simply allowed to cure/harden and then disposed of.

9. HEALTH & SAFETY

Antel Epoxy Flake Flooring System is much safer to handle than other resin systems; however, it is recommended that all skin contact is avoided and that if contact is made, are washed immediately with soap and warm water. It is advisable to use a barrier cream and gloves when applying.
